Case study: life interrupted
Mr Z relies on gas for his cooking and hot water. Over
the last month Mr Z has experienced four gas outages. Each
time he contacted his gas supplier they visited the following
day, inspected the pipes and told him that there was water
trapped inside the gas pipes under his street and they would
fix the problem.
During the fourth outage, Mr Z had been without gas for
two days, the repairers had not arrived and his supplier
had not returned his call. He contacted EWON for assistance.
When EWON called his gas supplier they confirmed that the
problem was related to a water leak in the gas pipe that
supplies Mr Z's property.
The supplier organised for urgent repairs and within two
days the pipes had been fixed. They credited Mr Z's account
with $48 for the supply fees from the previous quarter in
recognition of the outages he had suffered and the extended
delay in repairing the pipe.
