The following case study shows how we negotiated a payment plan on behalf of a customer who was about to have their water supply restricted.

Case study: stretching the budget

Ms H received a 24-hour restriction notice for $438 arrears on her water account. She contacted a few community agencies for financial assistance to help clear her arrears. The first community agency was unable to assist her immediately as they needed to assess her situation over the phone. Ms H was making an STD call and could not afford the phone charges to continue the assessment. The second community agency was unable to visit her until the following week.

Ms H contacted EWON and offered to pay the bill off in weekly instalments. EWON called Ms H's water provider and explained her situation. The water provider agreed to her payment plan, stopped restriction action and asked that Ms H call them with each payment receipt.
