Tenant-specific water issues
EWON can help if you
are a tenant paying for your water usage. Some tenancy agreements make the tenant responsible for
charges relating to their water usage. We are able to provide
information to help tenants manage their
water usage and provider referral advice for tenants
experiencing financial difficulties.
If you require help after contacting your landlord or water
supplier, contact us
or use our online
complaint form. For help with your landlord, contact
a local tenants advice service.

Case study: the speechless tenant
Mrs D had a large water leak close to the meter at the
front of her block of units. She rang the 24-hour emergency
number, but because she rents the unit and is not the account
holder, the water supplier was not prepared to talk to her
about the leak.
Three months later, the leak was still not fixed and her
landlord refused to speak to the supplier about the leak.
Mrs D contacted EWON for advice on how to get the leak
repaired. EWON contacted the supplier to inform them of
the leak and to advise how upset Mrs D was with the treatment
she had received.
Following EWON's contact, the supplier immediately rang
Mrs D to follow up her complaint. Within four hours of the
conversation between Mrs D and the supplier, workers had
replaced the broken pipe. The speedy action from the supplier
after EWON became involved put an end to Mrs D's frustration.
