EWON to hold drop-in sessions in Central-West Orana region 12-16 May
05 May 2025
The Energy & Water Ombudsman NSW (EWON) will be in Gulgong, Dunedoo, Coolah and Cassilis between 12-16 May to speak with landholders, community members and local councils about renewable energy infrastructure concerns.
EWON’s Energy Transition team will be at five different drop-in sessions to help resolve complaints from locals impacted by new energy transmission infrastructure.
EWON is an independent dispute resolution service and does not represent government, industry or consumers, but works to achieve fair and reasonable outcomes for all customers.
“We’re coming to listen to communities affected by transmission infrastructure, to fully understand the issues locals are facing, provide advice and resolve complaints,” said Energy & Water Ombudsman NSW, Janine Young, who will attend the sessions.
EWON’s ‘no wrong door’ referral service can also connect locals to other agencies for assistance with complaints and enquiries.
“We can’t stop or delay these projects, but we can help people navigate the maze of different organisations involved in delivering the transmission and network infrastructure,” said Ms Young.
EWON expanded its jurisdiction in December 2024 to provide independent advice and deliver a complaint resolution process for customers dissatisfied with the way their complaints are handled by new energy infrastructure developers, who are required to be members of EWON. EWON is working to further expand its jurisdiction in 2025 to include renewable energy generation.
Free breakfast or light dinner will be provided at all drop-in sessions.
