Louise Sylvan appointed Chair of EWON Board

The EWON Board has announced that Mr Tony Crawford’s term as Chair
expires on 30 September 2024. The Board and Ombudsman would like to thank Tony for his very significant contribution to EWON’s governance and strategy since October 2018.

Following an independent search process, the Board is pleased to announce that Ms Louise Sylvan AM FAICD has been appointed Chair from 1 October 2024.  Louise will bring strong governance experience to the board as well as deep knowledge of the energy sector. 

Louise is Chair of the Reliable, Affordable Clean Energy for 2030 (RACE for 2030) Co-operative Research Centre; Chair of The Centre for Social Innovation; and Adjunct Professor at the Charles Perkins Centre, University of Sydney, in the Prevention Research Collaboration, School of Public Health, School of Medicine. Louise has previously been Chair of Energy Consumers Australia, a Commissioner of the Productivity Commission, Deputy Chair of the ACCC, CEO of CHOICE (the Australian Consumers’ Association) and President of the global consumer body Consumers International. She chaired the working group at the OECD examining Regulation for the Demand Side of markets, represented Australia on the International Consumer Protection Enforcement Network, and is the former Chair of Bush Heritage Australia.  

Louise said it is a great pleasure to be joining EWON as Chair.
