We support the Voice

EWON accepts the invitation of the Uluru Statement from the Heart to walk with our First Nation’s peoples to ensure a better future for all Australians.  We see the Statement as being a generous invitation arrived at through the extensive Dialogues process, allowing us to unite in a genuine process of reconciliation.

We support Australia’s First Nations peoples in their call for a constitutionally enshrined Voice.  Our support is a natural continuation of the commitments in our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan. It also aligns with EWON’s values, in particular respect, social justice and integrity, and our commitment as an Ombudsman scheme to fair and reasonable outcomes.

Through our community engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples we understand the importance of listening.  We believe the Voice will help create a shared understanding that will enhance the actions of government, benefiting all Australians.

EWON is committed to making a difference based on the principles of Voice, Treaty and Truth. We respect there will be a diversity of views and we encourage listening with open hearts and minds to help facilitate informed and respectful conversations.
